About Terra Mushroom Farm
The Start
Terra Mushroom Farm LLC is a commercial gourmet mushroom farm started in North Richland HIlls, TX.
Terra Mushroom Farm was founded in 2024 after Jeffrey Casteen decided to expand his mycology hobby. Jeff began exploring the world of mycology in 2020 and quickly became obsessed with furthering his efficiency in growing. He began growing mushrooms year round along with growing his operation from a small Martha tent using still air boxes to a full farm.
Through experimentation, Jeff has learned to improve his yield to support a larger population than he could have ever dreamed in 2020. While learning about growing mushrooms, he also learned about the incredible health and mental benefits mushrooms provide. He is so excited to share that passion with the community.
Terra strives to empower local businesses by providing premium quality mushrooms that are also local to the community. We work to maintain a sustainable growing environment. We maintain 100% of our cultures, produce 100% of our own spawn, produce 100% of our sterile substrate, and grow kits. We even work to keep our waste from being waste by composting spent substrate blocks.
Terra also strives to be a part of a community. We desire growth through helping others. We want to be present and not lost in the rat wheel. We have a passion to connect with customers and businesses.
About the Farm
Our farm is starting out small and can sustain 50 to 100 pounds a week. We are constantly working to expand and grow more. We grow a wide variety of gourmet mushrooms including oysters, lion’s mane, black pearl kings, and chestnuts. We are the place to go for your mushroom needs in Dallas/Fort Worth.
We are committed to building a sustainable business and have adopted practices to decrease our impact on the environment including composting our spent substrate, recycling plastic from our grow bags, and using local businesses to source our spawn and substrate ingredients. We have also ensured a maximized use of space so that our energy use is minimized.
